If your goal is to generate more leads and get more customers for your business, than a blog on your website is the ultimate must have.
Not only will your blog increase you website impressions on Google, but each individual blog post can also serve as a lead magnet. Encouraging your visitors to interact with your brand, and buy products or services from you.
Businesses that blog generate 67% more leads than businesses that don't. They also have 55% more website visits.
Why are blogs important for SEO?
Even if you don't plan on your customers ever reading your blog, having a blog on your site will still drive traffic to your homepage.
This is something most small business owners never think about - Google has no idea who you are, or what you do. You have to tell Google about your business, and the way you do this is by adding content to your site.
Algorithms love data. The more data you add to your website, the easier it will be for Google to recommend your business to potential leads. And this is even more true for local businesses.
When you add a website to your local business profile, your website's blog will help rank you over other competitors. This will bring more eyeballs to your business, and more customers to your door.
What should you blog about?
Whenever you post on your website, you should be publishing content that makes your readers more likely to buy from you.
Most of the time, people need some convincing before they get out their credit cards.
Back in the day, marketers would write really long sales letters and send them out to perspective customers. But that doesn't work as well as it used to. Now, people have shorter attention spans and they're less likely to read an entire sales letter from start to finish.
So instead, confront their objections with your blog posts.
If you want more information about this marketing strategy, you can read my post on the "new sideways sales letter" below.
Can blog posts be short?
Absolutely. In fact, blogs are much shorter than they used to be. Most blog posts today can be between 1,000 and 1,500 words, but some bloggers are creating posts with as little as 500 words.
The length of your blog post is largely dependent on your audience and your topic.
You want to make sure that your blog post is long enough to properly cover a topic, but short enough to keep readers interested.
I've previously written an entire post on this topic. You can check it out on the link below.
Which blog platform is the best?
Most business owners will start out with Wix or Wordpress to create their websites, but I'm not a big fan of either option. Both platforms are difficult to set up, and hosting can be kind of expensive over time.
I recommend using Ghost to set up your blog.
Ghost is incredibly easy to set up, and you can get lifetime hosting for $120. I've actually got a course that will teach you how to set up your business website in less than an hour. Plus I'll tell you how you can get that lifetime hosting deal.
Here's the link for it, although you have to be in our community to get access. You can sign up below, we'd love to have you inside.
